I had the opportunity to shoot a friend that I had in high school named Rafid. I haven't talked to him in years but when I did again it was like we never lost connection. His session date had to get pushed back a week later because it had been raining on the anticipated date. But let me tell you about Rafid. His personality is very laid back and he doesn't care about too much in life but for some reason when it came to being in front a camera, he locked up. That's totally okay, it's what everyone does at times including myself. But I wanted to capture his personality and his love for his car. He told me that he was "going to get nervous in front of the camera" and to that I had to tell him that he would do great because he was "gorgeous". From instincts and being a girl I told him that he was a "gorgeous little man". He looked at me as if I said "go mow the lawn by hand" he quickly told me "that's not something you say to a guy, you call them handsome" This comment made me chuckle. Growing up my dad had many cars that he loved. He would wash them every week, make sure the tires were shiny and make sure that the windows were finger print free because he had two young kids. The way that my dad acted around his cars was the same way that Rafid acted around his. You can tell when a man loves his car by the way he carries himself. I definitely saw that while I was shooting him and I think you will too. Enjoy the Nizam gallery.
